The NIA aims to improve outcomes for Canadians as they age through better healthcare and retirement planning polices, as well as encouraging Canadians to make better, more informed decisions about their health and wealth. To learn more visit <a href="http://www.nia-ryerson.ca/">www.nia-ryerson.ca/</a>.</p><br/><br/><h2><b>The Opportunity</b></h2><p>The Manager, Communications and Public Affairs develops and implements the communication and public affairs strategies for the National Institute on Ageing (NIA) and works closely with the Executive Director to help accomplish these goals. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and directly supervises staff as required.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul> <li>Manages the execution of all of the NIAs communications and public affairs activities, including: Report launch campaigns, social media, e-newsletter, editorial calendars, promotional pieces, events communications, key messages, press releases and website.</li> <li>Develops internal and external marketing communication and promotion strategies.</li> <li>Under the direction of the Executive Director, implements the long term strategies; develops policies and standards; determines the means, allocation of resources, and implementation plan.</li> <li>Determines creative, photography, design and printing requirements of communication plan.</li> <li>Manages the preparation, creation and distribution of the NIA&#39;s marketing and communication materials to effectively position the NIA as a leading edge research centre to industry, government, and community stakeholders.&nbsp;</li> <li>Sources and supervises outside suppliers (e.g. writers, designers, etc.).&nbsp;</li> <li>Manages and grows the NIA&#39;s social media and website presence.</li> <li>Develops and maintains relationships with the media and media organizations and writes press releases and other communiques to a range of audiences, including the media, government, etc.</li> <li>Markets the NIA to community members and targeted groups. The successful candidate will support the coordination of awareness and education and reinforce the university&rsquo;s commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, supportive environment for all community members under the guidance of the Manager, Consent Comes First. This role delivers appropriate intake and support for gender-based violence survivors at the University.
